The Mavic 2 Zoom is primarily designed to get close to the action. It features a camera with optical zoom, which is also quite rare for drones. The focal length ranges from 24 to 48 millimeters, and it also includes a digital zoom up to 96 millimeters. Nine photos can be automatically stitched together into a single 48-megapixel image. Thanks to its zoom capability, the Mavic 2 Zoom can create an effect known as "Dolly Zoom."

Improved subject tracking

DJI calls its enhanced subject tracking system ActiveTrack 2.0. It not only utilizes the main camera but also incorporates the two vision sensors for calculations, allowing it to create a 3D model, while its predecessor was limited to two dimensions. A flight path prediction helps keep the Mavic on course, even when the view of the subject is temporarily obstructed.

The drone: faster, better, quieter, more

The drone flies longer, faster, and quieter compared to the Mavic Pro. Improvements in aerodynamics allow the battery to last up to 31 minutes, although this figure is only achievable in calm conditions. The drone can reach speeds of over 70 km/h. The live feed in 1080p is transmitted over a distance of up to 8 kilometers.

Collision avoidance sensors are located not only at the front and back but also underneath and on the sides. DJI claims to have improved the pilot assistance system that detects obstacles early. Additionally, a downward-facing LED light is helpful for flying in the dark. Another very useful feature is a flight information system that helps keep the drone away from restricted zones like airports.
