Two additional high-precision aspherical lenses correct imaging errors such as field curvature and distortions, resulting in significantly improved imaging performance. Chromatic aberrations are not uncommon in wide-angle shots. Two UD lenses in the EF 24mm f/1.4L II correct these imaging errors and ensure a sharp image from edge to edge.

It should be clear that you can't expect the best values from such an inexpensive lens. Nevertheless, the Canon does a good job with the usual weaknesses. However, the whole thing is well made and also delivers fairly consistent results. Of course, the edges are just as imperfect as the images of the initial aperture.
Due to its low weight, the wide-angle lens is also very easy to use, and even when open, it offers a very high resolution. Although the scope of delivery is a little tight here, too, because neither a carrying pouch nor a sun visor are part of the party, the model is also extremely favourably priced...
Although the lens is rather cheap, it is largely convincing in practice. The resolution is almost constant over the entire focal length range, with only the edges appearing a little too dark. However, this is quite acceptable and the fact that an image stabiliser is part of the equipment is also more than pleasing.
Admittedly, the Canon EF-S 4.5-5.6/10-18 mm IS STM shows some weaknesses in the test. For example, low resolution and low speed. On the other hand, the APS-C lens is both the cheapest ultra-wide-angle lens for the EOS DSLR and the only one in its class with an image stabiliser.
The lens works well overall, but is not convincing at the edges of the image, especially at medium and short settings. On the other hand, the Canon is very light and, above all, attractively priced. The light intensity is not enough for a purchase tip.
With a built-in image stabiliser that works very effectively and good imaging performance, the Canon stands out. Although colour fringing was visible, the model scores overall with good operation and a fair price. In addition, it is very compact and lightweight, making it very comfortable to carry around.
