Canon

This robust 70-200mm telephoto zoom lens from the Canon L series is particularly popular among professional photographers. It delivers top-notch performance in strong ambient light and is optimized to excel even in the most challenging lighting conditions. With a maximum aperture of f/2.8, it allows for precise control over depth of field and, combined with the optical 3.5-stop image stabilizer, facilitates low-light shooting by compensating for camera shake. The imaging performance is excellent, and the remarkable sharpness from the center to the edges makes it an ideal choice for EOS cameras with the highest resolution.

The focal length range of 70-200mm is so versatile that this lens can be used in nearly every area of photography. Outstanding handheld shots are possible even in low light. The high aperture of f/2.8 lets in twice as much light to the sensor compared to a f/4 lens, and the 3.5-stop image stabilizer compensates for unwanted camera shake.

The lens offers convincing image quality even with the highest resolution EOS cameras. The high-quality precision optics ensure exceptional resolution, and improved coatings suppress stray light and lens flare. Thanks to the excellent control over depth of field, a subject can be sharply highlighted against an attractive background blur.

Fast-moving subjects can be tracked accurately thanks to the ring-type USM autofocus system. Manual focus adjustment is always possible. The robust construction of the L series is optimized for professional use, and special seals protect against dust and splashes.

Bayonet lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.
