Fast, nearly silent autofocus
The autofocus is operated by a ring-type ultrasonic motor (Ultrasonic Motor - USM) built directly into the lens. This enables extremely fast and nearly silent focusing. A high-performance CPU unit and an improved AF algorithm contribute to the autofocus's high speed. A good holding torque ensures that the optical construction is precisely guided to the focus point without overshooting. The electronically controlled focusing can be manually overridden at any time without leaving the AF mode.

Source: Digitec GalaxusBeim Canon EF 1,2/50 mm L USM handelt es sich um ein kompaktes Objektiv mit hoher Lichtstärke, einem Autofokus mit hoher Präzision und einer guten Auflösung. Leider wurde hier kein Stabilisator verbaut, wobei die Objektivgüte insgesamt nur mittelmäßig ist.
Es zeigt offen eine gute Bildmitte und bei Blende 2,8 eine solide Gesamtleistung für 450 Euro. Das Gleiche gilt für das noch etwas lichtstärkere Canon 1,2/50 mm L USM.
