The EF 100mm 1:2.8 Macro USM is a medium telephoto lens with a macro function for reproduction scales up to 1:1. Thanks to its 8-blade iris diaphragm, it allows for the targeted use of attractive background blur to emphasize the main subject. To speed up the AF speed, the lens features a switch to limit the focusing range. It has a Ring USM for automatic focusing and instant manual focus adjustment. Canon's USM ring motors are powered by ultrasonic waves, ensuring extremely fast, virtually silent, and highly precise operation. Manual focus can be adjusted at any time: a large focus ring that does not rotate during automatic focusing allows for immediate fine-tuning. The Super Spectra coating provides excellent color balance and high contrast; additionally, it reduces lens flare and stray light by absorbing light that is reflected by the lenses and sensors inside a digital camera.
