Lens Protectors
Active photography demands a lot from cameras and lenses. Protecting the sensitive front lenses from flying sand, dust, fingerprints, or splashes with a B+W filter is a wise choice. B+W filters not only cost a fraction of the lens price, but they are also easier to clean. They can remain permanently in front of the lens as they are completely color neutral, maintain the highest transparency, and are extremely low in reflection due to the B+W MRC or B+W MRC nano coating. The optical signal reaches the image sensor or film unaffected. With the extremely clear and highly transparent B+W protection filters, no extension factor needs to be considered.
In digital photography, protective filters play a particularly important role. Greater depth of field due to smaller sensors amplifies the impact of front lens contamination on image quality. Especially with zoom lenses of lower brightness, fingerprints can significantly reduce sharpness. Frequent cleaning of the front lens can not only leave scratch marks but also transport dirt particles or moisture from the edge of the mount into the interior of the lens system.
The classic among B+W protection filters blocks the disturbing UV component of daylight. Invisible UV light occurs more frequently in pure sea air and in high altitudes, which can lead to blurriness and a blue tint. The color-neutral B+W 010 UV-Haze filter is suitable for both analog and digital cameras, ensuring more brilliant images and can remain permanently on the lens as a front lens protection.
