Product details
The UV filter blocks the invisible UV component of daylight, which can cause blurriness and affects many color films with a blue tint. It should actually be called a UV blocking filter, as there are also UV filters for technical applications that allow UV light to pass through while blocking everything else. However, among photographers, the abbreviated term UV filter has become established. UV filters are ideal for (landscape) photography in the mountains, by the sea, and in areas with very pure air. The images gain brilliance, and distracting bluish veils are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, aside from eliminating the blue tint, neither the color reproduction is altered nor is there a need for exposure extension. Therefore, the UV filter is also suitable as a front lens protection against flying sand, seawater splashes, etc., and can remain on the lens at all times. It is recommended for both analog color and black-and-white photography as well as for digital captures.
