For decades, customers around the world have associated the Burgwächter brand with quality products "Made in Germany." Its roots date back to the 19th century when the company F. W. Lüling was founded in Volmarstein. It specialized in the production of padlocks sold under the "Burg" brand. The name referred to the landmark of the area, the Volmarstein Castle, whose ruins still stand visible above the Ruhr Valley today. In 1950, the descendants of the Lüling family established the current trademark.
