Hephestos is an evolution of Prusa i3, the most popular 3D printer in the RepRap community. It offers significant improvements and consists of a DIY(Do it yourself) mounting set that is even simpler and
more intuitive. With Hephestos you can bring all your projects to life: Designs, prototypes, figures, accessories, models etc. Your imagination sets the limits!
With this model we had in mind that it should be as easy and comfortable to assemble as possible. Therefore we have simplified the individual steps as much as possible and made the instructions more visual. We have also divided the parts of the kit into two corresponding boxes so that you can find them more easily and follow the steps better.
The most important electronic components from Hephestos are combined in a single board: To the Mega 3D. It was developed by our hardware department, contains new functions, improves heat dissipation and optimizes the control of the motors. In addition, it has a micro-USB connection and a direct connection to the power source.
One of the biggest advantages of Hephestos are the cable guide chains, which can be opened to make it easier to insert the cables. They are conveniently combined in the upper area of the extruder and in the rear area of the printer and do not impair the movements.
These elements, together with the knurled knobs, simplify the levelling of the printing plate and significantly improve the user experience. A further improvement are timing belt pulleys with bearings, which are of higher quality and shorten the assembly time.
In this way we at BQ contribute with our knowledge and our work to the freely available knowledge of humanity so that all people can use, improve and develop it. Therefore Hephestos is based 100% on free hardware and you can change and develop the printer according to your ideas. We believe in the growing RepRap community and share our progress so that there are no limits to knowledge. All improvements made to the printer are freely accessible.
