Founded in 1946 as Zweckform Schreibwaren und Bürobedarfs GmbH in a former cow shed in Oberlaindern, Bavaria, the company initially produced successful forms and carbonless books, and later also receipt pads and other office supplies. In 1956, it entered into a licensing agreement with the label company of American Stan Avery, who had developed the world's first self-adhesive labels over 20 years earlier. The sticker boom, the increasing spread of different types of printers since the 1970s, and the Post-it phenomenon have repeatedly led to expansions of the product range. Thanks to continuous modernization and expansion in all areas, as well as new partnerships, Avery Zweckform is now internationally successful. The company also keeps up with the times, is present on social media, and established an online printing portal in 2010 where consumers can design and print labels, business cards, foils, and more.
