Hum in audio systems is usually caused by ground loops within the system. A common-mode current flows in a grounding loop created by an electrical system that has grounds at different voltage potentials. This results in a 50 Hz hum in the audio signal. The most common method to resolve these issues is an audio isolation transformer like the TR2070, which should always be accessible to every audio technician.
