Product details

This 5 mm thick aluminum print plate serves as an alternative to the glass plate of the Sidewinder X2. The advantage of an aluminum plate lies in its thermal conductivity. The aluminum alloy EN AW-5083, from which the plate is made, has a specific thermal conductivity of 110 W/(m*K) compared to 0.76 W/(m*K) for glass. This ensures a uniformly heated print bed, which is especially important when printing large parts. The heating element of the Sidewinder X2 does not cover the entire platform, which can lead to temperature differences at the outer edges compared to the center of the platform when using glass, resulting in warping or adhesion issues. An aluminum plate minimizes these temperature differences. The plate is milled and thus has a smooth surface. Various print surfaces such as glass, PEI, or PC-coated magnetic plates can be mounted on the aluminum plate using tape or clamps. A cable is included, which is screwed to the printer's housing and the plate to ground it.

Info: To disassemble the heating mat, simply watch a few videos on YouTube. It may also be that the heating mat is so firmly stuck that it cannot be removed from the existing glass bed without damage.
