Arduino USB Host Shield

The Arduino USB Host Shield allows you to connect a USB device to your Arduino board. It is based on the MAX3421E, a USB peripheral/host controller that includes the digital logic and analog circuitry necessary to implement a USB peripheral at full speed or a host at full/low speed according to the USB Specification Rev 2.0. The shield is TinkerKit compatible, enabling you to quickly create projects by plugging TinkerKit modules into the board.

The following types of devices are supported by the shield:

• HID devices such as keyboards, mice, and joysticks
• Game controllers, including Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii, and Xbox360
• USB-to-serial converters like FTDI, PL-2303, ACM, as well as certain mobile phones and GPS receivers
• ADK-capable Android phones and tablets
• Digital cameras, including Canon EOS, Powershot, Nikon DSLRs, and P&S, as well as generic PTP
• Mass storage devices such as USB flash drives, card readers, and external hard drives
• Bluetooth dongles
