Switched Rack PDUs measure the power consumption of the load in conjunction with controlled on and off switching of individual outlets for remote system rebooting. Additionally, the systems provide delayed power-on for systems as well as usage management for outlets.

The power control of rack-based IT devices is managed by APC Switched Rack PDUs (switched rack power distribution units), which offer IT managers the ability to control the power supply to rack devices. All outlets can be individually turned on or off remotely, allowing for the rebooting of crashed devices and preventing unauthorized use of individual outlets. With power-on or power-off delays, users can set the order in which connected devices are powered on or off. The configuration and management of the Switched Rack PDUs are carried out via a secure web connection as well as SNMP or Telnet interface.
