Like other thermal pads, the Alphacool ice layer can level out the unevenness of cooling elements and the elements to be cooled. However, it has a very special feature: the ice layer consists of heat-conducting paste with an embedded fabric. This ensures that the performance of these pads is significantly more efficient than that of normal heat-conducting pads, regardless of the low W/mK value. In addition, a better distribution and filling between the surfaces is achieved, resulting in better air displacement. Due to their soft consistency, there is no pressure on components or solder joints. Nvidia also uses this type of pad for the Founders Edition. The ice layer can easily be cut to the desired size and applied to cooling elements without slipping. As a basic component or spare part, heat conduction pads belong in every well-organized computer tinkering corner.
