All Alpenleder products are made from full-grain leather, which means that the bags are manufactured to the highest quality standards. Alpenleder works with both cowhide and buffalo leather. These are so-called open leathers that cannot hide their imperfections through structural embossing or color but stand true to their origin. Each piece of hide is examined by specialists for its suitability for Alpenleder bags. Alpenleder avoids toxic chrome salts in the processing. Instead, tree bark is used for tanning. For a large part of the collection, chemical dyes are completely omitted, and only oils are used for preservation. The cooking in pure vegetable fat creates the handy grip, the water resistance, the beautiful surface, and the fantastic color tone.
