Leather writing pad. High-quality leather writing pad designed to protect your office desk. Made from buffalo calf leather, tanned using purely vegetable methods and refined with plant-based oils. Dimensions: Length 68 cm x Width 45 cm. Features slip pockets on the left and right sides. The underside is made of non-slip suede. Variations are possible as each piece is handcrafted. Alpenleder. The manufacturer Alpenleder exclusively works with full-grain leather. All products are made from whole hides, with leather thickness ranging from 1.2 mm to 3.5 mm. Alpenleder uses both cowhide and buffalo leather. These are so-called open leathers, which do not hide their imperfections through structure embossing or color but stand by their origin. Each hide is inspected by a specialist to determine its suitability for bags. The leathers currently used by Alpenleder are all vegetable-tanned: In the tanning process, toxic chrome salts are not used as is common, but the leathers are tanned with tree bark. They also exclusively use azo-free dyes from European production for the colored leathers. For the majority of the collection, they even completely forgo chemical dyes and preserve the leathers solely with oil. The unique feel, water resistance, patina, and intense color tone are achieved through boiling in pure vegetable fat. The leather remains porous and retains its natural properties, such as the pull-up effect, which allows scratches and scuffs to be filled in by rubbing. Alpenleder bags become more beautiful the longer they are used.
