Adafruit Wave Shield for Arduino Kit
ShieldProduct details
The output of high-quality audio in electronics projects is quite complex - that's why the Wave Shield for Arduino is now available.
It plays uncompressed audio files up to 22 kHz and 16-bit in unlimited length and features an onboard DAC, filters, and op-amps to achieve good sound quality.
Audio files are read directly from an SD/MMC card. The volume can be adjusted using a potentiometer located on the board.
The shield is supplied as a kit for self-assembly/soldering!
The Arduino, speakers, headphones, and SD card are not included.
There is a very easy-to-use Arduino library for the shield - simply copy the wave files onto an SD card and insert it. Then use the library to play sounds, for example, when a button is pressed, a sensor triggers, or serial data is received.
Technical details:
- Plays uncompressed wave files at 22 kHz, 16-bit, mono in unlimited length.
- The mono audio is output to both channels (left/right) (headphones).
- Audio files are read from a FAT16 formatted SD/MCC card.
- Simple Arduino library (requires about 10 k Flash and about 0.5 k RAM) - also works on 168 Arduinos, but 328 is more suitable.
- Does not work with Arduino Mega and Leonardo!.
