Adafruit NeoPixel Shield for Arduino 40 RGB LED Pixel Matr

Product details
Put on your sunglasses before you attach this sign to your 'duino. 40 brilliant RGB LEDs adorn the NeoPixel sign, providing configurable colors. Arranged in a 5x8 matrix, each pixel is individually addressable. Only one pin (Digital #6) is required to control all the LEDs. You can cut a trace and use almost any other pin if you need customization.
To facilitate an easy start, the LEDs are powered by the Arduino's 5V onboard unit. As long as you don't have all the pixels fully lit, that should be fine. You can also use the included terminal block to connect an external 4-6VDC power supply. There is a polarity protection FET in case you wire the power backwards.
For example, if you need more blinking, you can chain them together. For the second shield, connect the DIN pin to the DOUT of the first shield. Also connect a ground pin together and supply it with 5V. You can chain as many as you like, although after 5 or more shields, you may run out of memory when using an UNO.
We offer both stackable headers and simple headers. Use whichever you prefer - there isn't much space left for the 'duino header pin, so if you want to wire some other outputs or sensors, the stackable headers are a good option. For a sleek, sturdy look, solder the headers on. Once that's done, check out our Neopixel library.
