The NeoPixel ring features 12 ultra-bright Smart LEDs arranged in a ring. The rings can be chained together. This allows for the control of each individual LED using just a single microcontroller pin, as each LED can be addressed individually through its internal driver chip. Each LED has a current driver for a constant 18 mA, ensuring very consistent colors even with varying voltage. This design is powered by 5 V DC and is compact, as no external ballast resistors are required.
