Product details
Round and round they go! 24 ultra-bright, intelligent LED NeoPixels are arranged in a circle with an outer diameter of 66 mm (2.6").
The rings are chainable - connect the output pin of one ring to the input pin of another. Use just one microcontroller pin to control multiple rings! Each LED is addressable, as the driver chip is integrated within the LED. Each operates at a constant current of about 18 mA, ensuring that the color remains very consistent even when the voltage varies. No external current-limiting resistors are required, keeping the design sleek. The entire power supply operates at 5 VDC, and you're ready to rock.
There is a single data line with a very time-specific protocol. Since the protocol is time-critical, it requires a real-time microcontroller such as an AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. It cannot be used or interpreted with a Linux-based microcomputer or microcontroller like the Netduino or Basic Stamp. Our wonderfully written Neopixel library for Arduino supports these pixels! As it needs to be assembled by hand, it is only suitable for AVR cores, but others may have ported this chip driver code, so please do some research. An 8 MHz or faster processor is required.
It comes as a single ring with 24 individually addressable RGB LEDs, fully assembled and tested.
