Product details
So you want a lot of NeoPixels at a better price? No problem! Here’s a sheet of breadboard-friendly NeoPixel breakouts, fresh out of the oven. Break them off as needed and save some money.
Each order comes with 25 pixels on a snap-off sheet.
This is the easiest way to integrate small, bright RGB pixels into your project. We used the same technology from our Flora NeoPixels and made them breadboard-friendly, with two rows of 3 x 0.1" spaced header pins on each side for easy soldering, chaining, and paneling. These ultra-bright LEDs have a constant current driver integrated directly into the LED package. The pixels are cascadeable, so you only need 1 pin/wire to control as many LEDs as you want.
These pixels offer full 24-bit color capability with PWM provided by the controller chip. Since the LED is so bright, you need less power to achieve the desired effects. The driver is constant, so it’s fine if your battery voltage changes or fluctuates.
Each pixel draws up to 60 mA (all three RGB LEDs lit at full brightness white). An Arduino can control up to 500 pixels at 30 FPS (after that, there may not be enough RAM available). With the flat ribbon cable, you can keep them up to 6" apart (after that, there may be power drops and data corruption).
You can find everything you want to know (and more!) in the NeoPixel Uberguide!
Details:
- 800 KHz speed protocol
- Cascadable design
- 5-9 VDC power (can run at 3.5 V, but the color will be dimmed), constant 18.5 mA per LED (~55 mA max total current per pixel).
