Adafruit 16-Channel PWM Servo HAT for Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi is a very powerful mini-computer, but it has some weaknesses when it comes to controlling servos. These motors need to be operated with very precise repeating signals. Instead of using the Linux kernel for this task, the Adafruit 16-Channel PWM HAT is now available. Simply plug it into your Raspberry Pi, and you can easily control 16 servos with perfect timing. PWM at up to 1.6 kHz with 12-bit precision is no longer a problem.

The HAT works not only with the Raspberry Pi Model A+ and B+, but also with the older models A and B. In this case, you only need a 2x13 header instead of the included 2x20 header.

The Adafruit 16-Channel 12-Bit PWM/Servo HAT controls up to 16 servos or PWM outputs via I2C using just 2 pins. The built-in PWM controller manages all 16 channels simultaneously without additional processing power from the Raspberry Pi. Furthermore, up to 62 of these shields can be stacked, allowing you to control 992 servos with just 2 pins.

Adafruit has already created a Python library for this HAT, making it ready to use within minutes. A very detailed tutorial is also available for download.

Each kit includes the Servo HAT, a 2-pin terminal block, 4 pieces of 3x4 headers, and a 2x20 pin socket header. Assembly is very simple and can be done by beginners in soldering. If you prefer not to solder yourself, we also offer the shield pre-soldered for a small additional fee.

If you want to use multiple shields, please order 2x20 pin stackable headers. Similarly, angled 3x4 headers are used for the servos.

A Raspberry Pi or servos are not included.
