You won't be able to look away from the fascinating patterns created by this Adafruit 15x7 CharliePlex LED matrix display FeatherWing. This 15x7 LED display can be combined with any of our Feather boards to create a beautiful, bright grid of 105 Charlieplex LEDs. It even comes with a built-in Charlieplex driver that operates over I2C.

What’s particularly nice about this Wing is that the I2C LED driver chip has the ability to drive each individual LED in a 15x7 grid with PWM, allowing you to create beautiful LED lighting effects without a lot of pin juggling. Simply tell the chip which LED on the grid you want illuminated and at what brightness, and it will handle everything for you. You get 8-bit (256 levels) dimming for each individual LED.

The IS31FL3731 is a nice little chip and happily runs on 3.3V power. Inside, it has enough RAM for 8 separate images of the screen memory, so you can set up multiple frames of an animation and display them with a single command. Since it uses I2C, it only requires the SDA/SCL pins on your Feather and can share these pins with other I2C devices and sensors.
