Adafruit 0.8" (2cm) 8x16 LED Matrix FeatherWing Kit Yellow-G

You will chirp with joy when you see how easy it is to create your very own 8x16 LED matrix display for any Feather. This kit combines two of our charming miniature LED matrices with a FeatherWing driver board. At 0.8" square, these little 8x8 matrices have everything a large LED matrix has, but in bite-sized form! Double them for a total of 128 bright white LEDs.

This is the yellow-green Adafruit 0.8" 8x16 LED Matrix Featherwing Combo Pack! We also offer these combo packs in white, red, and green.

Normally, wiring 8x16 matrices would require a staggering 24 GPIO pins, which is far too many pins. That's where this lovely 16x8 LED matrix backpack board comes into play. It features an HT16K33 I2C LED matrix driver that handles all the multiplexing work for you and is controlled via the two I2C pins. It's easy to use and has a portable library that runs on one of our Feathers to turn the individual LEDs on and off.

The 16x8 backpack is also great for creating scrolling displays or small video signs. In our example, we set it up to display a small bitmap of emoticons, but you can also show moving text – like a signature in front of a miniature car dealership.

This kit includes:

* A fully tested and assembled 16x8 0.8" LED FeatherWing
* 2 x ultra-bright square 8x8 yellow-green matrices
* 2 x 16-pin header

Some soldering is required to attach the two matrices to the FeatherWing, but it is very easy to use and takes only about 15 minutes.
