We are in the year 50 BC. All of Gaul is occupied by the Romans. All of Gaul? No! A village inhabited by indomitable Gauls refuses to surrender to the invader. Life is not easy for the Roman legionaries stationed in the fortified camps of Babaorum, Aquarium, Laudanum, and Kleinbonum. Life is peaceful in the small Armorican village, where the residents steadfastly go about their usual activities. Our two heroes, Asterix and Obelix, are out hunting wild boar, the blacksmith and the fishmonger are arguing fiercely as usual, and the chief is majestically carried on his shield across the village square. But one day, upon returning from the hunt, Asterix and Obelix discover that their village is in flames and has been plundered by the Romans! The two set out, accompanied by their loyal companion Idefix, to rescue the villagers. On their journey, they visit Normandy, Greece, Helvetia, Egypt, and finally Rome, to free the villagers from Caesar's clutches.
