Beyond Your Dreams win the first CS:GO Summer Cup
by Philipp Rüegg
41 teams battled it out to reach the final of the CS:GO: Summer Cup. You can find the highlights of the matches and which teams emerged victorious here. You can also win something.
Although the crowds were somewhat smaller than in the first round, the second qualifier of the CS:GO Summer Cup was still a hotly contested affair. 41 teams faced each other and dueled it out until only two winners remained at the end. Organised by digitec, Logitech and the Swiss e-sports club mYinsanity, last Saturday's tournament featured numerous newcomers as well as a few well-known top teams such as SPG Sports and Arctic Gaming.
.
The game was played round of 16, i.e. 16 wins. Six games were again shown in the live stream. Here are some of the highlights commented on by the two casters Everlast and Knut0r.
A particularly exciting match took place between the French-speaking Swiss team Lausanne-Sport eSports and Twinferno.Hazed. The two teams gave each other nothing and everything remained open until the end. In the end, Lausanne-Sport eSports won the match 16:12 in their favour.
After the match against SPGeSports, however, it was also the end of the day for the French-speaking Swiss. SPGeSports secured one of the coveted spots. They proved their strength in the match against DismayUs, for example:
The last final slot went to the team Beyond Your Dreams.
Philemon "Chilla" Antony from SPGeSports, who was even at the World Cup last year, is one of the best Swiss "CS:GO" players. Nevertheless, he does not see his team as favourites. "As we've only recently had some changes and one of our players can't take part in this event, we're not a well-oiled team at the moment. That's why I wouldn't consider us favourites. All four teams have many individually strong players and I expect close matches."
With the SILENT Gs and Arctic Gaming, other experienced teams also took part in the CS:GO Summer Cup. However, they did not make it through to the final round. Chilla suspects that expectations were their downfall. "It could be because some players are struggling with nervousness or are too tense when something is at stake. The mixed teams can take part in an event like this without any pressure and play to their individual strengths, while the pro teams perhaps focus too much on team play and the players don't dare to do their own thing."
Chilla is particularly pleased that the final will be broadcast on site and not just online. "I've only played in two events of this kind so far and it was always a great experience. Of course, I hope to go home on Saturday just as happy as I was at the previous events. It's also a good opportunity to see my team-mates again and get to know each other a bit better."
The final round will take place on Saturday 24 June in Mrs Gerold's Garden in the middle of Zurich. The eStudios is located there, where a number of gamer PCs are waiting to be gamed. There will be a small public viewing area where you can watch the spectacle. The finalists include the following four teams:

You can watch the final live on this Saturday from 11.30am on Twitch.
As promised, there is also something for non-participants to win. On the one hand, another of the coveted G933 White headsets in HyperBeast design will be raffled off in the final livestream. In addition, there is also a chic Logitech G G413 keyboard to be won on the mYinsanity Facebook page and one here in this article. Write a comment in this story telling us which of the four finalists will win the CS:GO Summer Cup. If several people guess the right team, we will choose a winner. There will be no correspondence about the competition except with the winners. Legal recourse is excluded.
Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
