Almost every adult remembers the colourful building bricks, which allow kids to create entire worlds. LEGO wasn’t your thing but you enjoyed levelling up on Super Mario? Good news: LEGO is bringing the Italian plumber back to life – in the shape of LEGO bricks.

What is LEGO Mario?

The new Super Mario series, developed in collaboration with Nintendo, doesn’t only appeal to nostalgic people. The LEGO lineup includes a Starter Course with interactive Mario, eight expansions such as Bowser's Castle and Mario's Home, four suits with special forces and blind packs with collectible characters. In addition to classic building bricks, the sets also offer game value: you can either play alone with Mario, play together with two players or use the free app to share your creations with the world.

How to play with LEGO Mario?

During the game, LEGO Mario jumps from block to block in a challenge to get from start to finish within 60 seconds. On the way to the finish line, he collects as many coins as he can – followed by the classic «Ka-Ching» sound, of course. A colour sensor shows Mario what kind of ground he's on. Green LEGO bricks stand for grass, which means «everything is fine»; blue bricks symbolise water and red stones are fire and mean «be careful»! Action bricks such as Goombas and Baby Bowser feature a coloured barcode and generate coins when you jump on them.
