Migros combines its online power on Galaxus

Galaxus customers now have access to over 20,000 products from the Migros universe: The online shop has included own-brand products from the Migros supermarkets as well as from the specialist stores Micasa, Melectronics, Do it & Garden, Interio and SportXX. In the future, Migros intends to offer additional parts of its non-food range on Galaxus.

In the past, many customers have been surprised not to see Migros bestsellers offered on the online subsidiary Digitec Galaxus. This has now changed: The online shop Galaxus has extended its range with about 20,000 articles from the parent company. Galaxus now features own-brand products from the Migros supermarkets as well as the specialist stores Micasa, Melectronics, Do it & Garden, Interio and SportXX. Perishable foods are no option – they continue to be sold online through LeShop.

«More and more Migros customers are looking to shop online», says Migros CEO Fabrice Zumbrunnen. «Our specialist stores and supermarkets offering their products on Galaxus is a logical consequence of this.» In a first phase, Galaxus customers will be able to purchase Migros products that fit into common parcel sizes.

Initially, the majority of orders are delivered from specialists and supermarkets to Galaxus customers. However, some Migros own-brand products are available directly from the Digitec Galaxus warehouse. «More will be added soon», says Florian Teuteberg, Digitec Galaxus CEO. «We’re planning to have all popular products in stock in our logistics centre and deliver them from there.»

Some brands that are now available on Galaxus are Micasa and Interio, Mio Star and Durabase by Melectronics as well as Miogarden, Miocolor and Miocar by Do it & Garden. The SportXX brands include Crosswave, Bodyshape, Extend, Perform and Trevolution. Supermarket products by Central Square, Cucina & Tavola, M-Topline, Miobrill, Papeteria, Milette and Bellcolor are also featured.

Growing range

In some cases, the Migros specialists and supermarkets have also included third-party brands to the Galaxus range, but for now, the focus is own-brand products. «We’re combining Migros' online power on Galaxus: In the future, we're planning to offer even more own-brand products from our supermarket's non-food range and our specialist stores on Galaxus,» Migros CEO Zumbrunnen adds.

With this new sales channel, Migros intends to tap new target groups and give Galaxus an additional boost. «I'm sure our customers have been looking forward to this addition to our product range for some time,» says Florian Teuteberg. «The new automated interface paves the way for a significant expansion of the Migros range on Galaxus.»
