Behind the scenes
From the kitchen to the living room: retro and vintage products are conquering the market
by Daniel Borchers
To date, purchasing games, software or download vouchers from us was not a particularly uplifting experience. But that’s all changed now. We’re happy to announce that our downloading process for electronic software has been completely reworked!
IT peripherals are currently in great demand due to the large number of people working from home. We’re experiencing a sales boom for PC monitors, webcams, mice, keyboards and headsets. And the same goes for software. Compared to the previous year, sales have increased by 30% in the first quarter of 2020. So what better time to simplify and massively speed up our plodding purchase process?
If you’ve ever ordered software, games or vouchers from us via electronic software download (ESD), you probably weren’t very impressed. No wonder. Until now, purchasing an ESD article involved logging into an external portal to access your licence key. Or waiting until your code was physically sent to you by post. Yes, you heard right. By post. It would often take days until the key was available. But since April, ESD purchases have changed completely. Now, you can access your licence key in your user account right after purchase. This also makes it easier to find the licence if you want to reinstall a programme.
After making your purchase, you will receive a confirmation e-mail as usual. Shortly after, you’ll be sent a further notification containing a link that will take you straight to the licence you just purchased. If you don’t feel like waiting for a few minutes, don’t worry. Your licence key is accessible in your user account. And this is what it looks like:
Once you’ve selected the licence key you bought, we’ll explain step by step how to download and install the software:
But what would the process be without the products? That’s why we’re launching our ESD programme with international manufacturers including Microsoft, Adobe, etc. See the full list below. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll keep adding software products, games and well-known gift cards from iTunes, Netflix, Spotify and PS Network.
There is one big difference between purchasing a digital product and purchasing a physical product, such as a laptop or a memory card, for example. Digital products only accept digital payment. In other words, there’s no more use for the good old paper bill when it comes to ESD.

To me, a computer is so much more than just a work instrument. It’s a friend in need!
Mine is fast to deliver facts when I’m philosophising about random stuff such as quantum or astrophysics and happy to tap into algorithms to provide me with a suggestion for the best and closest pizza.
