digitec Podcast Episode 93: Netflix with commercials, "Willy's Wonderland", "Mythforce"
We explain why the Metaverse is an unripe avocado, how Netflix wants to escape the downward trend with advertising, and how Nicolas Cage beats up toy robots in "Willy's Wonderland."
Nobody knows exactly what the metaverse actually is. Nevertheless, everyone is talking about it. Including us, or rather our colleague Coja Vallejo, who interviewed the expert Aaron Frank about it. The story continues cryptically, with a theft in a crypto exchange that may not be a theft at all. The situation is clearer at Netflix. There, they want to combat shrinking subscriber numbers with cheaper, ad-supported subscriptions. There should also be a lot of advertising for the upcoming "Minecraft" movie, where the lead role is now known. It's none other than Jason Mamoa. The next game adaptation may also rely on muscle-bound support. The co-op game "It Takes Two" will be filmed by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The last news concerns "World of Warcraft", where the newest add-on was presented.
This week we watched "Will's Wonderland". In it, a mute Nicolas Cage takes on murderous toy robots. The second season of "Russian Doll" also continues on a bizarre note, with lead actress Natasha Lyonne tapping into a new time-dimension hole.
Lost in Random" is not lacking in creativity either. It takes place in an enchanting fantasy world that could have come straight out of a (good) Tim Burton film. Mythforce" seems to come from the same era. The co-op action game looks like an animated film from the 80s.
