On Wednesday, 21 July 2021, we held a competition to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the digitec connect mobile subscription. We’re overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and the numerous calls we received. Here’s a recap of how the day went.

Thank you for participating in the digitec connect mobile subscription competition! We’re overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and the numerous calls we received. Here’s a recap for those of you who missed the competition. We showed two phones with different battery levels on a livestream. You could call both phones to further reduce their battery levels – until, finally, they both ran out. The last two callers each won the main prize. Here’s what the livestream looked like:

On the left was the Samsung phone with about 24% battery to start. On the right was the iPhone with about 20% battery to start. The iPhone ran out of juice after just 20 minutes. The Samsung phone, on the other hand, lasted just over 40 minutes. Congratulations again to the two winners, who each received a lifetime digitec connect mobile subscription! In addition to the two main prizes, we held a draw among all callers for a chance to win one of 20 digitec connect vouchers. All winners were informed by text message on Wednesday, 21 July 2021.

The behind the scenes

We had a lot of fun creating this competition and were quite nervous to see if everything would work according to plan. There’s only a small team of people with limited resources behind digitec connect. So, creativity is a must when it comes to competitions like this one. You can see our makeshift livestream setup below.

What was up with voicemail?

After calling in the fifth time, you were forwarded to voicemail and asked for your feedback. My task during the competition was to listen to the voicemail messages and then delete them to make room for new ones. A Herculean effort, since there’s a limit of 30 voicemail messages. I do apologise to those of you who were unable to leave a message because the voicemail was full. We were very pleased to receive a lot of great feedback. Thank you for all your suggestions for improvements! We’ll be sure to take them into consideration for future development.
