Christmas order deadlines: how to get your Galaxus parcel in time for the holidays

The clock’s ticking. By 12 p.m. on Monday 22 December, you’ll have officially missed your last chance to get your order delivered by Christmas Eve. For some products, earlier deadlines apply.

Alright, here’s my annual public service announcement directed at people who leave their Christmas shopping to the last minute. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging. There’s always so much going on during the festive season. But if I were you, I’d use the last weekend before Christmas to add any gifts you’re still missing to your shopping cart. As long as you click «Order» at some point on Sunday, it’ll all turn out fine. Our colleagues in the logistics team will pack up your items for you. After that, the hardworking folks at Swiss Post and Planzer will deliver them to your door.

You’ll definitely be playing it safe by placing your order at the weekend, but that doesn’t mean shopping on Monday’s out of the question. Just make sure you’ve hit «Order» by 12 p.m. Any products marked as «in stock» will arrive in time for Christmas. Our shop has a filter that’ll help you find those products more easily. When searching for a product, just click the «Offers» filter, then select «Products in stock».

Alternatively, you can look out for the sleigh symbol. In December, this symbol appears on a product’s page if it’s guaranteed to be delivered by Christmas. The same goes for the other way round: no sleigh, no guaranteed delivery.

Order large items earlier

If you’re planning to gift a sofa, an 80-inch TV or a new [pocket sprung mattress](/search?q=pocket spring mattress&filter=pt%3D1241%2Coff%3DRetail&is=pocket spring&skipRedirect=true&filterGrid=expanded) (does anyone actually do this?), you’ll need to place your order a little earlier. By 5 p.m. on Friday 19 December, to be precise. The deadline applying to general cargo also applies to wine. So if you fancy some bubbly or a drop of the good stuff to go with your Christmas dinner, make sure you order by Friday.

For bulky goods such as broom handles, however, we can manage the delivery without getting a forwarding agent involved. The order deadline for products like these (items that are lightweight but very long or wide) is Monday.

Sorry for the weird examples, by the way. If you can think of any that’d be better suited as gifts, write them in the comments below. Thank you!

In-store shopping on Christmas Eve

We also have a selection of products in stock or available at short notice in our brick-and-mortar stores (locations and opening times here). When searching for a product in our online shop, you’ll be able to see which products are available in which stores by using the relevant filter. On the product search results page, click on the arrow next to «Available: Mail delivery». A list of stores will then appear. Once you’ve selected a store, keep an eye out for products marked with a green tick. These are the ones available for immediate in-store collection. If you order them online, you’ll get a collection note by e-mail shortly afterwards.

You can even place orders for in-store collection on Wednesday morning. You’ll get an e-mail or text message as soon as your product’s ready for pick-up.

The order deadline for in-store collection is Wednesday. Please also note the following cut-off times:

  • Wohlen: 12 p.m.
  • Kriens: 8:15 a.m.
  • Basel: 6:45 a.m.
  • Winterthur and St. Gallen: 6.30 a.m.
  • Zurich and Dietikon: 5.45 a.m.
  • Bern: 5:30 a.m.
  • Geneva and Lausanne: 4.45 a.m.

Left it too late? Go for a gift voucher!

Read this far but missed all the order deadlines? Worry not – we have your saving grace: digital gift vouchers for Galaxus. You’ll even be able to gift this digital ticket to retail therapy by text message. Alternatively, you could give the voucher a little extra love by printing it out and putting it in an envelope you’ve decorated yourself. That’ll probably look a bit more impressive. When it comes to the voucher value, you can choose any amount between 10 and 5,000 francs. While we’re on the subject, who on earth is out here buying 5,000-franc gift vouchers?
