The Nikkor Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S for professionals combines an integrated teleconverter with a fast aperture.

The price of nearly 16,000 francs gives it away: the new Nikkor telephoto zoom lens for the Z-mount is clearly aimed at professional photographers. It covers a focal length range of 120 to 300 millimeters with a constant aperture of f/2.8 and features an integrated 1.4x teleconverter. This allows the focal length to be extended to 168 to 420 millimeters without mounting an external converter. The maximum aperture then drops to f/4.

The Nikkor Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S will be available from November 12.

Image stabilizer, multi-focusing system, and internal zoom

According to Nikon, the lens was developed specifically for sports and action photography. It is designed to let you bring fast, distant subjects close and capture them handheld thanks to the optical image stabilizer, without significant blur. The stabilizer is said to compensate for up to 6.5 stops.

Other technical features include an internal zoom and focusing mechanism as well as a multi-focusing system with Nikon's «Silky Swift VCM» motor for autofocus.

The lens has a maximum diameter of around 13 centimeters and a length of 35.3 centimeters from the lens mount. Despite the integrated teleconverter, it weighs 2.74 kilograms, which is about 515 grams less than its DSLR predecessor, the AF-S Nikkor 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR.

Included in the scope of delivery are two lens caps, a lens hood, a carrying strap, and a lens case.
