High-tech and muscles – the packing and loading process in our warehouse
by Manuel Wenk
Bobby «Gaz» Johnson is the ambitious one in our squad of company heroes. He’s a go-getter and convinced that standstill is regression. And he has big goals. His motto: bigger, stronger, faster! With this attitude, he motivates himself as well as the entire team.
«Поехали!» – «Let's go!» It’s 12 April 1961. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin is sitting in his Vostok 1 at Baikonur spaceport. His spaceship, which later shall make history, is waiting for the countdown. Yuri is determined to become the first man in space. At all costs. «Поехали!» – pronounced «Pojechali» – is also what our company founders were thinking when they went live with digitec in 2001. And their courage was also rewarded.
Our company hero for the big goals isn’t called Yuri, but Gaz. He takes the shape of a rocket. For Gaz, borders are there to be broken down. He doesn’t see problems – he sees opportunities. In his mind, the next feature is a small step for an online shop, but a giant leap for consumers.
First and foremost, Gaz is a talented motivator. He has clear visions, thinks big and encourages his teammates by constantly raising the bar. He focuses on a handful of goals that are in line with the strategy of Digitec Galaxus. He makes sure that he and his team deliver results with measurable benefits. Speaking of team: just like in a well-attuned cosmonaut team, Gaz and his colleagues organise themselves in such a way that allows every member to do what they're best at. That's why we don't chase after individual goals; we work with team goals that we achieve together. «Let's go!» To Neptune and back!
At Digitec and Galaxus, I’m in charge of communication with journalists and bloggers. Good stories are my passion – I am always up to date.
