CS:GO Summer Cup: Take part in the Swiss “Counter-Strike” tournament
by Philipp Rüegg
The first qualifying round of the CS:GO Summer Cup was a complete success. 64 teams competed against each other. Here you can find all the results, video highlights and find out how you can still take part.
320 players were sneaking and shooting around last Saturday. It was the start of the first CS:GO Summer Cup. Organised by digitec in collaboration with Logitech and the Swiss e-sports club mYinsanity, the tournament was open to everyone. The turnout was much bigger than expected. Instead of 32 teams as planned, the first qualifying round was held with twice as many participants.
Co-organiser Manuel Oberholzer from mYinsanity is particularly pleased about the many newcomers to the scene: "Around two-thirds of the registered teams were not yet known to us and were most likely not previously active in Swiss e-sports competitions. It's great to see new faces in the scene!" Almost 800 viewers tuned into the livestream and together typed over 2,500 messages into the Twitch chat.
Some of the matches were streamed on Twitch and commented on by casters Knut0r and Everlast. Here are some of the highlights
In the 1st round, the game was shown by digiBrett, which consists almost entirely of digitec-Galaxus employees. The team dominated strongly at the beginning, for example in these scenes. Unfortunately, they were eliminated after the second round.
In the second round, the situation was much more even. It went back and forth, for example here:
Thrilling scenes also took place in the final of the qualifier between the two teams Size Matters and the Groomers:
The second final between Swiss Finest and Fragment Esports was also hotly contested:
In the end, Swiss Finest and Size Matters qualified for the semi-finals.
The standard of the participants was already very high. Anyone who is now keen to hand out a few headshots but missed the first round still has a chance. The registration phase for the second qualifier on 17 June has already started.
You can register here. Registration is also open to losers of the first qualifier.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
