An ok monitor with many flaws

The monitor is great for gaming and programming. The 144hz eases a lot of the eye strain when compared to 60fps and the 21:9 aspect ration helps a lot to boost productivity. This monitor also has a rather low input latency for a VA panel and minimal smearing in dark areas.

That said this monitor still suffers from several issues. Games will flicker when free sync is engaged, if the fps fluctuates to much or LFC is engaged. In addition to that the brightness doesn't reached the advertised level, which make the HDR experience even worse than what it actually is, especially since true HDR starts at 400 cd/m² and not 300. The controls are also horrendous to use, a joystick would've been a lot better.

If you're willing to forsake freesync and are ok with sub par performance in dark scenes then this monitor isnt that bad. But since I've been having nothing but problem with the RMA process, I cant recommend this thing.

Pro

  • 144hz feels good with minimal smearing, for a VA panel (Overdrive to medium is advised).
  • Good color reproduction and the contrast is superb as expected for a VA panel.
  • Good color presets.
  • Pretty good design, not really a flashy gamer theme, which is a good thing.
  • 10 bit color compatible, helps a bit with better color reproduction.

Contro

  • Freesync flicker when LFC is engaged, or FPS drops rapidly (like form 144 to 50).)
  • Advertised brightness not reached.
  • Horrendous user control.
  • HDR makes everything look worse, thanks to the lack of local dimming and low brightness.
  • RMA takes ages, had to return the monitor, but even after a month I havent gotten a replacement.
  • Dark smearing when looking at dark scenes thanks to the VA technology.

This is a great summary, thanks for that! Is the flickering too bad with games? I am looking for a multi purpose monitor - I am beginner content creator (mostly using After Effects), but also play shooters often. I bought new 3080 and am looking for a new monitor - would you still recommend this one?

I had to RMA mine, since it showed signs of artifacting. The flickering seems to be an issues with my unit specifically, from what I've read not many displays suffer from this issue (aside from the LFC one). For gaming and general use, like coding (which is what I do professionally), I would recommend it. But thanks to the lack of brightness I wouldnt be comfortable recommending it for content creation. As stated in the review, the advertised brightness isnt reached. That said if thats not an issue for you, the display isnt bad, especially for the current price.

That said I would advice you to go with something more oriented around content creation, since you might benefit more from a broader color coverage and higher brightness. Also if you're planning on doing HDR content, absolutely dont buy this display.

Also ich habe sehr viele Reviews (rtings etc.) gelesen, die oft bei VA Panels, curved UWQHD ein flackern bemängeln. Bei IPS tritt das Problem so gut wie nie auf.
