The in-house software of the Beoplay Mx speakers is often criticised. However, I would like to use the Multiroom technology from Goolgle anyway, i.e. Chromecast Built-In. Does anyone have any experience with this and do I even need the B&O software in any way?
I add: The Chromecast firmware version is unfortunately very outdated (1.28, first Chromecast from 2013 is at 1.36, Chromecast Audio at 1.42). The Beoplay can be integrated into Multiroom groups, but dynamically switching it on via Google Home, or the practical automatic volume control for "conversations" with a Nest Mini nearby / in the same room does not work. I'm looking into this with support right now. For the full Chromecast experience: get hold of Chromecast Audio overpriced and best of all connect it optically.
The "in-house software (B&O app) is only necessary to make sound settings and to put the speaker into operation for the first time. But after commissioning, everything can be controlled by Google without any problem.
Greetings Jan
