According to the manual, the ASUS P5WDG2-WS mainboard is equipped with 2 PCIe x16 version 1.0 slots. PCIe cards and slots are generally backwards compatible with counterparts of all previous generations. In each case, transmission takes place on the basis of the fastest common protocol. This means, for example, that a PCIe 1.0 card in a 3.0 slot only transfers at 2.5 GT/s, whereas a PCIe 2.0 card in the same slot transfers at 5 GT/s. The operating system is practically irrelevant.
The operating system plays practically no role. Windows 8.1 immediately installed the Nvidia drivers itself and the upgrade to Win10 was trouble-free.
My reason for installing it was a new monitor with resolution 2560x1440 pixels (via HDMI 1.4), draws super sharp.
