Yes, you can use the lens on the R5 Mark II for 3D/VR shooting, but you'll be working in crop mode, which limits the resolution. For professional 3D video applications, this can still be perfectly adequate - and Canon has explicitly supported this setup (e.g. for VR with Quest 3).
