Would the Wacom One work as a "writing tablet" for university? By only connecting it to the laptop with thunderbolt? So that you don't have to buy an extra tablet? Mfg Simon
In principle, this is possible. But it needs a lot of cables, power supply and laptop. Connecting via Android is also an alternative in principle. But it would be too much cable clutter for me. The advantage would be that you can work directly with Onenote. Nevertheless, I would prefer a light writing/drawing tablet for on the go.
No!
Technically possible somehow (with a power bank etc.), but I can't imagine that this can be used sensibly on a daily basis in the lecture hall. You have the laptop (or mobile) on all the time, a tangle of cables with HDMI, USB cable and power supply, simply too much to carry around for the limited space in the lecture hall. An iPad (perhaps an additional one) makes more sense for taking notes during the lecture.
For home learning (stationary), of course, it works without a single iPad. So if the lecture halls remain closed, why not.
The power supply would be a problem - but with a sufficiently powerful powerbank it could work.
I would definitely not recommend it. I really like the Wacom One and use it all the time at home, but I still have an Android tablet with a pen when I'm on the road. I think if in doubt, I would rather do without the Wacom One than the tablet ...
