Question about TCL MOVETIME Family Watch MT40X

We actually only want to use the watch as a "mobile phone light" without access to the internet (start phone calls on both sides and our son should be able to receive our sms). Is it possible to deactivate the gps tracking completely and use the watch without the app? I'm quite sensitive to data protection and actually find the watch practical because it can't get lost anywhere so quickly (like a senior citizen's mobile phone, for example). Has anyone already tried this and can help me out? Dannke!
