Question about OPPO Reno6

Will the phone run on Swisscom's 5G network? According to the OPPO website, the OPPO only runs on the 5G NR: N87, i.e. 3.5 GHz network. However, as far as I know, Swisscom has only fully developed the 5G NR: N1 network (2.1 GHz) or is the N87 now also used everywhere at Swisscom? It would be a shame to buy a mobile phone that doesn't perform well on our frequencies and unfortunately Digitec doesn't have a search function for network frequency either.

Helpful answer

I asked Swisscom myself and they couldn't give me a decent answer either: they confirmed that they are building out both frequencies but that not both are and will be available everywhere (they also couldn't tell me which ones are built out where exactly). The 2.1 GHz network (NR: N1) are simply reprogrammed 3G antennas, so not the "real 5G" and not nearly as fast. For the "modern" 3.5GHz network (NR:N87), new antennas are needed, but the expansion is slow because of all the objections and rejected planning applications. So you can buy the phone, but it won't work for the "real" 5G because it doesn't support the 3.5GHz. I hope I was able to help other interested parties with this. For me, it's out of the question, because I'm better off with the older OPPO A54, which supports all these frequencies.

5G works for me with Swisscom with the OPPO Reno6. I don't know which band it is at the moment.

According to the experiences of other customers, Swisscom's 5G works on this smartphone.
