Question about Google Pixel 4 XL

Why is the device only available in February or does it not go on sale until then?! the device has now been on the market for a few weeks.... I've been waiting for the new Pixel for what feels like an eternity, as my Pixel (1gen) is slowly but surely giving up the ghost and I urgently need a new phone....
