Why are there so many "controlled returns"? Are there a lot of defects?

Helpful answer

The technical/acoustic properties of the headphones are ok. However, the mechanical stability (plastic) of the earpieces is a disaster. I have already needed several rolls of insulating tape to prevent the headphones from falling apart.
