Which motherboard and, if necessary, which fan would you recommend?
Look for one with the B450 or X470 chipset. Then you won't have any problems. There are hardly any really bad MBs in this category.
I myself own the MSI B450m Mortar, but also have "only" an mATX case.
Depending on the case, I would first recommend the choice of case, then you can build on that.
