Helpful answer

Both models are very suitable for phone calls and active noise cancellation (ANC), but differ in some respects.

- Active noise cancellation (ANC): The Sony model offers one of the best ANC performances on the market according to current tests and manufacturer specifications, with particularly effective cancellation of ambient noise. The Jabra Evolve2 85 also has good ANC, but is usually rated as slightly less effective in direct comparisons.
- Telephony quality: The Jabra Evolve2 85 has been specially developed for professional applications such as telephone calls and video conferences and offers a unidirectional microphone that transmits voices clearly and distinctly. The Sony models (including the WH-1000XM6) are also suitable for phone calls, but are primarily optimised for music and ANC. Sony's microphone quality has improved significantly in recent generations, but the Jabra Evolve2 85 is often rated as more optimal for pure telephony and meetings.
- Comfort and features: Both models are over-ear headphones with a microphone, wireless and wired use and a closed design. The Sony model is slightly lighter and offers more functions for music lovers, while the Jabra model is designed for comfort during long phone calls and conferences.

Conclusion:
For phone calls and meetings, the Jabra Evolve2 85 is more optimal as it is specifically designed for clear voice transmission. For the best active noise cancellation and music enjoyment, the Sony model (WH-1000XM6) is the better choice.

I have a Sony WH-1000XM5 and it's practically useless for making calls in an environment with background noise, I keep getting complaints that the call is very tiring due to the background noise.
On the other hand, with all my Jabras (Evolve 65&75, Evolve2 65&75) I get consistently positive feedback regarding the voice quality for the other side. I have not tried XM6 vs 85, but I suspect that there is no significant difference compared to the older models. Conclusion: for telephony, Jabra
