Question about Apple Thunderbolt 3 zu

When I connect a LaCie hard drive with the Thunderbolt 2 (original) cable to the iMac (late 2015) everything works perfectly, when I connect the same hard drive with an Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter to the MacStudio (2022) I get the error message - to log off the hard drive before ejecting it. I.e. the connection to the hard disk is interrupted for no reason. Could the adapter be defective? Does anyone have any experience?
