So I'm sorry I messed up this time. I did some research and found out that a "Dp alternatemode" has been implemented in the USB-C standard. So it is possible A) It should be possible to output Dp signals as well as HDMi signals via the USB-C port. B) How well this works would have to be read up on in experience reports, and in my opinion that's your job! And of course you want to know if it is technically possible, if it wasn't it wouldn't work like that. In my opinion, it should be possible to control your monitor via USB-C, but I can't tell you how well it works because I don't own these devices. I would recommend a product like this:

So just in case your monitor has a Dp connection. You are by the way right with the statement that USB-C can transmit 4k signals but I am not sure about HDMI (here you can find all performance data about HDMI ==>
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki...). I can't say any more about it than I have now, and it's probably necessary for you to be a bit more active yourself. If possible I would choose the dp adapter, I had some problems with the frame rate etc. with HDMI and high resolutions.
