Question about Lenovo ThinkPad Docking

You actually have to look at the power supply unit of the laptop.

For example, with the ThinkPad T470p you need 135W, but if you use 90W, it may work, but you always get a message at start-up saying that you are using a power supply with low power. It can also be that the processor works slower or that the computer suddenly switches off.

I think that the wattage explains the performance of the docking station. The more devices are connected, the greater the power requirement.
